The aesthetics and usability of a product is its most important feature…

Hello guys, Welcome to my medium. Today I will be introducing you to UI/UX design, before we get into it, lets define the three terms….

  1. Design: A design is a plan or specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation of an activity or process, or the result of that plan or specification in the form of a prototype, product or process.
  2. UI: Its simply an abbreviation for User Interface.
  3. UX: Its an abbreviation for User Experience.

In other words, we can say that UI/UX design is the implementation of activities or process of plans and specifications for the construction of an object or system to produce a product that is user friendly and easy to use.

In the world we are today, people are moved by what they see and it takes no more than 3 seconds for users to form opinions about a product. The design and functionality of such product is what determines what takes a product from good to great!. It is the job of a UI/UX designer to anticipate the user’s needs and give them what they want. It is important to note that while UI/UX works together to create magic!, UI IS NOT UX and cannot be used interchangeably. UI describes the looks of the product in terms of the colors, shapes, space, forms, texture, type, lines and images. While UX describes how the product works and feels in terms of how useful the product is, does it solve the problem it is intended to, the desirability of the product and its brand experience.

This is just an introduction to the concept of UI/UX design and with time we will be studying the principles and processes of UI/UX design. Thank you for reading!
